Kindergarten Accomplishments 2010-2011

  • These kindergartners started out learning letters and sounds, and now know how to read and write words.  They understand that these words then make up sentences, and know the proper punctuation for different types of sentences.  They have pushed themselves to read higher level books and really seem to love reading.

  • These students have moved from counting to just 10, up to counting to 100 – by 1s, 5s and 10s!  They have mastered patterning and graphing.  They can perform simple addition and can identify coins.

  • These kindergartners enjoyed learning several bible stories including Creation, Noah’s Arc, Jonah and the Whale, and the miracles of Jesus.  Many of these stories were taught to them in weekly lessons with Father James.  They enjoyed attending Prayer Services in the chapel each week and looked forward to hearing the bible readings.  They also took part in the Eucharistic Adoration each week.

  • These students studied themes such as Presidents, Dinosaurs, Plants, and Insects.  They studied Communities, focusing on our wonderful community of Gaylord, and learned about all the ways we can help out where we live.  They learned what a Missionary is and all of the ways to spread God’s word.  They chose countries they would someday like to visit where they can spread God’s message.

  • This class has learned what it means to be a Bucketfiller.  They loved working to fill someone’s bucket to overflowing with kind words and actions.

  • These kindergartners formed relationships with their 5th grade buddies.  Many fun activities were shared throughout the school year including games, crafts and quiet time.

  • This class learned the importance of being a friend and having friends.  They learned to accept and celebrate the differences between them.  They learned to appreciate each other and to show their appreciation.

  • These students were able to see how to conquer their fears.  Leading the Pledge of Allegiance at assemblies, singing at Convocation, and performing with the Young Americans scared them and made them nervous.  But each of them tried and succeeded in doing all of these things.  They even had fun!

These children know that each of them is special and is a true gift from God, and that their teacher loves them very much.  She will always remember them and feel blessed to have been a part of their lives, and be thankful that she was a part of their’s.
