Third Grade
Accomplishments

In third grade we shared our love for Jesus with others. We researched saints, prayed with Fr. Matthew during our Tuesday Masses in the chapel, and learned to the read the Bible with Father James. We learned the Apostle’s Creed, and prayed the rosary often.

In science we marveled at God’s creation when we visited the Oden Fish Hatchery and the Cross in the Woods, learned about animal families and their habitats, studied the life cycle of the mealworm up close, and built compound machine inventions. We learned much about farming in Michigan from Farm Bureau members  We learned to be a friend in third grade, and we were “big buddies” with our first grade friends.

We learned more about Michigan and our world in social studies, and enjoyed guest presenters from Mackinaw State Historic Parks and our field trip to Mill Creek.

In math we explored large numbers through addition and subtraction. We learned to multiply and divide, memorized multiplication and division facts, and explored time zones, telling time, money, fractions, and geometry.

We learned to write in cursive!  We became more fluent readers and writers in Language Arts, practiced and learned hundreds of new spelling words, and learned to find information in our textbooks and keep them organized in our desks. We enjoyed book clubs with our fourth grade friends in Mrs. Borowiak and Bebble’s Fourth Grade, and read many Accelerated Reader books. We also grew in responsibility, as it was our first year for earning letter grades, working to get our work in on time, having our work complete, and studying for tests. We wrote letters to our pen-pals and can’t wait to meet them at our picnic on Friday.

We utilized the wonderful technology at St. Mary,  learned to play the recorders with Mrs. Wyrembelski in music, loved singing and learning in Spanish with Senora Jakeway, and creating art masks, clay and projects with Mrs. Long. We also practiced good sportsmanship and teamwork in gym, with Ms. Campbell, and learned about keeping our bodies healthy by doing push-ups and sit-ups.

We are accomplished third grade students, who have made Mrs. Wind very proud!
